Cell Phone Accidents
Drivers who use cell phones for conversation or texting while at the wheel are more likely to be distracted and drive erratically or recklessly, leading to accidents that can cause injury or death. According to the National Safety Council, an estimated 24% of all motor vehicle crashes in one recent year – a total of nearly 2.3 million accidents in all – involved drivers who were using their cell phones to talk or text. Other statistics show that drivers who send text messages while driving are 23 times more likely to be involved in an accident. Laws increasingly recognize this reality: Illinois law, for example, was recently strengthened to prohibit the use of all hand-held mobile phones while driving on Illinois roads, and to increase the penalties where any use of an electronic device while driving is the cause of an accident. We represent individuals and families victimized in accidents caused by distracted drivers, and effectively meet the standards of proof to show liability and justifies compensation.
